2 jugglers find themselves bound to the rules of running machines while a musician orchestrates them through a series of games and experiments. A vivid circus performance celebrating juggling and running.
Running in itself is an incredibly efficient form of human locomotion.
Have you ever thought about how many muscles are needed to run, how many nerve pathways between head and leg are used with every jump? What this means in terms of coordination that the body performs - for something that seems to happen automatically? Just watch Maradona score a goal in the world cup final or feel the exhaustion of a Marathon runner when crossing the finish line. The run has so many emotions: It has stress and it has survival, it has adrenaline, desire, fear, whether you are being chased or chasing or escaping.
There will be a physical introduction before the performance. Duration: 20 min / Meeting point Foyer Saalbau at 19h Presented by Projektbüro Neuer Zirkus Ruhr in cooperation with Kulturforum Witten. The “PHYSICAL INTRODUCTION” format offers a special kind of artistic introduction. Interested audience members are invited to get in the mood for the piece “RUNNERS” not through words but through movement. Through the Physical Introduction, participants should not only be able to observe the movements on stage, but also to experience them in order to reduce the separation between the stage and the audience. The Physical Introduction is aimed at all interested parties, regardless of age and previous experience, who are curious to experience a specific movement quality and a choreographic idea of “RUNNERS” and to approach the performance not only by looking at it. No prior registration is necessary to participate in the Physical Introduction under the direction of Sabeth Danneberg.
