Pamela Banchetti & Co.: Forget Me.

In the cold pungent breath of reality a fictional story unfolds: a strange character is baking a strange cake over and over again. The ingredients come spilling out of the body of the strange character and are mixed and whisked by music. The sun comes down from the sky to bake the cake with its warm rays and the strange character wishes it to stay longer to warm up the cold and pungent reality. But the sun never stays. Forget me. is a fairy tale. You will find it inside a room full of crocheted objects, weaved by a solo performer and a composer into poetry of invented words, explosive movement expression and mime. Through the lenses of the fairytale, the artists want to open a space of reflection with the audience. In a reality where we accept injustice as a nuance of the day, what can still bring change? Do stories and acts of care still hold such a power? Performance and Creation: Pamela Banchetti Music and Co-Creation: Unai Urkola Etxabe Outside eyes and Influence: Kevin Claudio Ponge Kassoma and Romi Okewu

About the Company

This piece is a collaboration between Pamela Banchetti and Unai Urkola Etxabe. Pamela Banchetti is an Italian dancer, clown and puppeteer based in Cologne. Through her art, she employs the power of storytelling and imagination to fight injustice and build communities. Her interdisciplinary work reaches people of all ages. Her best-known work, The Puppet Theatre of Poldo and Pinolino, was developed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and won the Fritz-Wortelmann-Prize from the city of Bochum in 2023. With Forget Me., Pamela researches a movement storytelling practice to open spaces for collaborative reflection. She plans to expand this practice through projects on stage as well as outside of the theater space. This piece builds upon her previous creations, which she developed as part of her graduation from the Centre for Contemporary Dance: Reasons to Stay and Forget Me Not. These were developed under the mentoring of Samuel Peña de Castro, aka Thelmo Parole and in collaboration with Kevin Claudio Ponge Kassoma, Romi Okewu, and Unai Urkola Etxabe. Unai Urkola Etxabe is a queer Basque composer, sound artist and performer. He is strongly influenced by virtual culture and phenomena that typically exist on the fringes of society. He has won awards such as the "Young Musicians of Euskadi Contest" and the "International ACHT BRÜCKEN Composition Competition". https://unai.exposed/
