Eyes burning bright, alone or in packs, wolves roam the dark forests filling the night with fierce beauty. Set to DJ Ori Lichtik’s relentless primal rhythms, the cast of ten extraordinary Circa artists grasp, tear, climb, leap and balance with abandon. In two contrasting acts, the wolves evolve from disruptive forces of chaos into a ferocious pack whose intense choreographies between acrobatics and dance overflow with raw energy. There is perhaps no other circus piece that articulates as viscerally the deep human pleasure in physicality, athleticism and the joy of intense connection. Wolf taps the wildness trapped in all of us and creates a liberating tribute to human complexity, our potential for change and the transformative power of circus.
About the Company
Circa represents world-class Australian circus artistry and is one of the world’s great performing arts companies. With their award-winning productions, they captivate audiences and earn standing ovations, sold-out performances, and glowing reviews worldwide. Under the visionary leadership of Yaron Lifschitz and in close collaboration with their ensemble, they craft a diverse array of productions that constitute “a revolution in the spectacle of circus” (Les Echos). For 20 years, Circa has pushed the boundaries of contemporary circus, redefining the art form by showcasing how extreme physicality can forge powerful and emotive experiences. Based in Brisbane, Circa tours the globe each year, premiering new creations and becoming a staple at prestigious festivals and venues in New York, London, Montreal—and at Chamäleon Berlin. Through their extensive engagement programs, including the Circa Academy, Circability, and Circa Cairns (a First Nations-led circus initiative), they provide access, participation and professional development outcomes. They have also delivered major projects, including the Creative Lead on the Commonwealth Games Festival 2018 and managing Artour for the Queensland Government. In 2024, Yaron Lifschitz was honored with the Distinguished Artist Award by the International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA), joining the ranks of extraordinary artists such as Robert Lepage, Laurie Anderson, Leonard Bernstein, and Pina Bausch.
About the Location
Chamäleon Berlin is a creative venue, network partner and stage for contemporary circus. Since our reopening and the foundation of the current structure in 2004, we have been a showcase for current artistic positions in the international circus scene and over the years have evolved into an important production venue and creative partner. Our mission is to support circus artists in their artistic work, to promote the sustainable development of the art form and to present contemporary circus to a broad audience. With an orientation and program unique in Germany, the Chamäleon pursues a sincere commitment and makes a significant contribution to increasing the visibility and appreciation of contemporary circus as an art form in its own right.
