Jule Lotte Bröcker & David Finscher (kühlkollektiv): Im Kühlschrank brennt noch Licht

In the beginning there was a refrigerator. HUMMING. The basso continuo of human history.* “Is the light still on when - ” ENTER CLOWNS This everyday object, so familiar to us, is where meticulous, comfortable habits and inherited, passionate obsession collide. There are two characters who are fundamentally different and stubborn, who speak neither the same language nor share the same goal. Two who must be able to stick together and yet drive each other almost mad, sometimes too sweet to be true and then again painfully realistic. Using clowning and puppetry, Finscher and Bröcker create a piece between dry kitchen reality and tragicomic survival strategy, on, around, and inside a refrigerator. And the light is still on in the refrigerator.

About the Company

Jule Lotte Bröcker (*1992) is a freelance theater artist who works with/and/without puppets. She completed her BA in Puppet Theater at the HMDK Stuttgart in 2020. Fascinated by the comedy of rhythm, she animates material and herself. Direct, poetic, and flippant, she questions the practice of impressing and searches for a complex communicative and absurdly simple aesthetic. She also regularly conceives works for young audiences, such as a climate research expedition as object theater: Once to the North Pole and Back. Her focus is often on masks and objects—e.g., a refrigerator for the clown and object theater Im Kühlschrank brennt noch Licht (The Light is Still On in the Refrigerator) or sound machines built with children (machin:es sonores) that tell their stories in a French village. David Finscher (*1993) Clown, juggler, musician, and trained mime
