Kolja Huneck & Luuk Brantjes: SYMBIOSIS
“Symbiosis” – created by artists Kolja Huneck and Luuk Brantjes – is a performance experience that combines circus, magic, and theater. The artists explore human behaviour through juggling and acrobatics. They use a specially constructed dome tent as their stage and invite the audience to immerse themselves in their world.

About the Company

Using objects made from oil, Kolja Huneck creates a world in which vinyl records not only play music, but also become part of complex juggling patterns. While Kolja manipulates the materials, Luuk Brantjes finds himself in a role in which the material influences him. Through acrobatics, he explores the dialogue between body and material, challenges gravity, plays with risks, and discovers dependencies on his material playmates.

About the Location

The Zollverein UNESCO World Heritage Site is a landmark of the Ruhr region, a monument to industrial culture, and a symbol of the transformation of what was once the world's largest coal mine into an attractive location for culture, leisure, education, and business. Since the mine and coking plant were shut down, the facilities have been gradually renovated for new uses. In addition to the monumental industrial architecture, it is above all the museum and cultural offerings that attract visitors from near and far. These include guided tours of the original preserved above-ground facilities of the Zollverein coal mine and coking plant, the permanent and changing special exhibitions of the Ruhr Museum, the Red Dot Design Museum, and cultural events.
