RAPT begins with something simple: paper. Out of this fragile material unfolds a journey of juggling, dance, and clowning that explores our restless urge for “more” – to do more, to be more, to consume more. This craving fuels invention, yet also destruction. Improvisation, playful exchange with the audience, and the ever-shifting forms of paper create a landscape that can never be predicted: a body drowning in a sea of debris, or a single scrap revealing its own voice. RAPT is less a story than a constellation of encounters – between humans and objects, abundance and care, delicacy and resilience.
About the Company
Kompanie Benjamin Richter brings together artists from circus, dance, music, and technology. Founder and juggler Benjamin Richter has been exploring the intersections of contemporary circus, dance, and clowning for over 35 years. Sound designer Maxi Estudies experiments with the sound of paper. Producer and dramaturg Jenny Patschovsky contributes her extensive experience as a networker, researcher, and initiator of numerous projects in contemporary circus. Technical director and lighting designer Garlef Keßler creates precise worlds of light.
About the Location
The House of Architecture Cologne (hdak) is a building culture center that serves as a stage, showcase, and forum for architecture, urban planning, open space planning, and planning and building culture in Cologne. The center's activities include public lectures and discussion events on a range of building culture topics, including the weekly event series Every Tuesday at 7 p.m. – One Hour of Building Culture. It also offers exhibitions, film screenings, guided tours, excursions, and continuing education events. The target audience is the interested public.
