Fenja Barteldres// Lemon Press Collective: Cyrrealism // The Trace of the Snail

With this double bill you have the chance to enjoy two contemporary circus pieces in one night in the Shakespeare Company Bremen.

In “Cyrrealism” (30min) by Fenja Barteldres one thing becomes abundantly clear: Life does not always play out the way we imagined it.

Fenja Barteldres uses her Cyr wheel in an unknown way, thus, her apparatus becomes a different device:

Sometimes strangely curved, sometimes agile like a snake, and sometimes disintegrated into its pieces.

A whole world grows out of a single, metal ring.

The piece “The Trace of the Snail” by the Lemon Press Collective shines a spotlight onto the small, the weak and the fragile. What happens if, for once, we soften our protective shell? With a poetic combination of juggling, hand balancing, movement and spoken word, the circus artists Mika Schnapper and Aurélie Tercier invite the audience to take a different look at vulnerability.

Two shows, three performers, one sample of contemporary circus. We cordially invite you to dive into this special art form for one evening!

She studied at École de Cirque de Québec (CAN) and finished her Bachelor's at Codarts Circus Arts in Rotterdam (NL).

Aurélie Tercier and Mika Schnapper met in their four-year circus studies at Codarts Rotterdam. A shared poetic circus language, a love for shapes and nonchalance and wish to talk about political topics on stage brought them together as a duo. To take their collaboration further they founded the Lemon Press Collective in 2022. Homepage: www.lemonpresscollective.com

About the Location

The bremer shakespeare company was founded in the season of 1983/84 by seven actors and actresses. “A theatre for all”, which focuses on the artistic work of the author William Shakespeare and at the same time acts as a stimulus for the players to create their own productions. The ensemble sees the evening at the theatre as a joint event celebrated with the audience and relies on the imagination, on the spectator’s delight in thinking about and sympathizing with what they see or hear.
